ARTsmart is a Santa Fe nonprofit that funds visual arts education for young artists across Northern New Mexico, from visiting artist residencies in public school classrooms to a collegiate scholarship that has supported students for two decades. Their site hadn’t kept pace with the work, and it was costing them donors, applicants, and credibility.
Challenge & solutions
The old site looked like it was built in a different era, because it was. For a nonprofit, that matters more than most organizations realize. Donors judge stewardship by what they can see, and a dated site quietly suggests an organization that isn’t keeping up. The scholarship program, the heart of what ARTsmart does, was buried in pages that didn’t showcase the student work it exists to support. Twenty years of winners and their accomplishments deserved better than a text list nobody could find.
We rebuilt the site as a single clear narrative: who ARTsmart is, what the two programs do, and how a gift turns into a working artist standing in a classroom. Student artwork now leads the design instead of hiding behind it, with scholarship winners’ pieces featured at full scale. The donation path was simplified to a single prominent action, the 2026 scholarship application got its own dedicated flow, and the full archive of past winners was restructured so two decades of impact reads as the proof it is.
Before & After
The mission didn’t change. The site finally reflects it.
ARTsmart now has a home that puts student work front and center, makes giving simple, and treats the scholarship like the flagship program it is. Donors can see exactly where their money goes, and the next generation of applicants can find the door.
